Party Dress Challenge

The Christmas party season can present a huge fashion dilemma. You want to look amazing for the parties you go to. Obviously you want a dress that will make you stand out, but also versatile, especially if you want a value-for-money dress that will last you longer than just one season.

The Party Dress Test is part of a  project by Most Wanted Magazine, the Lifestyle Magazine from Voucher Codes, the #1 Voucher site in the UK  to try and discover how to help people to get the most for their money when buying new party dresses. A recent study they conducted  found that 18-24 year olds are spending an average of £119 on Christmas/New Year’s Eve party outfits. When these outfits are barely aired for the rest of the year.

As part of the Party Dress Test, they set me the challenge to find an adaptable dress on the high street and show how i could can wear it three different ways. Use the styling budget of £80 to buy a dress and any accessories to complement what is already in your wardrobe so that you can show how to wear it for more than one occasion.

Here is how i spent my money:
Dress ASOS Curve - £27
Skirt ASOS Curve - £14
Top Evans - £20
Shoes River Island - £20
Ring set Primark £1.00
Total = £82

So i went £2 over budget but 5 items for £82 is amazing, i shopped the sales, at full price these items would have cost me £160.50 so that is a massive saving of £78.50. It pays to be a bargain shopper. So onto the outfits

Outfit one - Party girl

Dress - ASOS Curve. Shoes - New Look. Rings - Primark

How pretty is this dress? As soon as i got the email about this challenge i knew this would be the dress i picked, I had my eye on it for a while, the shape was perfect for me, it wasn't black, i liked the mesh bust detail, gave a bit of a cleavage without being over the top and the sequins and jewels just added the wow factor but also meant you didn't need a necklace. I also really like the back detail, it is a bit different. I paired it with my New Look shoes but kept everything else simple as the dress is a the statement here. (i am wearing a 22 and it is a great fit)

Outfit two - Date night

Dress as a skirt - ASOS Curve. Top - Evans. Shoes - River Island. Belt - DP. Rings - Primark

Here i have worn the dress as a skirt to take away the statement top half and just leave a pretty floaty skirt. I love this glove print top from the newest Swan collection and the two navy's work together really well, i added a big belt to make the join between the two more flowing. I also like the longer sleeves, means you could get away without a cardigan. The shoes, how amazing are they? when i first laid eyes on them i was scared by them, but when they went into the sale, i had to have them, i need to be more bold sometimes.

Outfit three - Boho Chic

Dress worn as a top - ASOS Curve. Skirt - ASOS Curve. Shoes - River Island

This look is a bit outside my comfort zone and i can't say i love it but not everything can be perfect. I can imagine wearing this while going around markets in London or shopping in the Lanes in Brighton. I think it needs a faux fur coat to set it off perfectly. The floaty chiffon skirt helps dress down the top a bit and the shoes tie in with the silver of the dress.

One dress three looks

What do you think of my choices? Did i do well with my £80?
