Flesh the Flesh 2014

When a group of bloggers join together for a chat you know that the final result has to be super!! And so this happened once more when, a few days ago, we were talking about our preferences between mini and maxi and Becky  thought that it would be great to create a challenge which goal was to show a little bit more skin and our body (but with style and no vulgarity) showing proudly our curves. And so it was born “Flash the Flesh”.

We are back, with more flesh to flash! It was such a success last year that we are wanted to do it all over again. If you want to find out more about Flesh the Flesh you can find my original post here but a quick summery: I just want people to be proud of their bodies and proud to show them off, all too often we shy away from getting it out because we fear others will judge, mock or laugh, but I say lets stick two fingers up to those people and love our bodies for what they are, fat and fabulous!

Dress - Forever 21
Blazer - Next

I am easing myself in to my old flesh flashing ways (it's been a while) but i had this stunning dress sitting in my wardrobe and i knew it would be perfect for this challenge. Cut outs are a huge trend this season and i've jumped on the band wagon. While it is only a little bit of flesh, i think it is quite an important thing in the bigger picture, as a plus size girl, i was able to buy a dress that had a cut out. Most retailers would shy away from letting us 'bigger' girls get our bellies out in any way for fear of offending the general public yet here i am in a short dress with a halter neck, with a bit if belly poking out, crikey! And to top it off, i feel bloody fabulous in this dress.

Now go give some love the other fabulous ladies who will also be flashing some flesh!

Becky in non dress shocker!

Dungarees - ASOS Curve
Top - Primark
Shoes - Primark

Becky in non dress shocker! is what the headlines would read over this outfit, yes, i am wearing something other than a dress on the blog. These have cute little details that made them hard to resist, the fastenings aren't buttons but hooks and there is little zip pockets and the print isn't in your face but still more fun than block colour. I am finding out that i actually have quite small shoulders, i need to adjust the straps on items fully to get them to actually stay up!

Neon tunic

Tunic* - New Look Inspire
Shoes - Primark

Last week i received a lovely package from the New Look Inspire PR team brimming with goodies, this is the piece that really caught my eye and i ended up wearing it the next day to cover exams. The colours really pop and neon is really on trend at the moment. The material is really light and perfect for summer. I am really getting into these more loose fitting tops, they are so easy to throw on but i think this will also look great paired with heels and a leather jacket (maybe the Simply Be pink one)

Taking Shape Bristol store visit

Two weeks ago now i was invited to the Bristol Taking shape store, i was greeted by Erica who had picked out some great pieces for me and then i was allowed to free rein on the shop floor to pick what i wanted to try on.

So here is some snaps of me in the clothes....

Juno Tunic
The first item i tried on, the fit was lovely and the length was really good but i just felt this was over priced for what it was.

Pompeii dress
The print is nice, i like that it is around the edge and the bottom, it frames your body nicely, but for me, shift dresses need to be baggy to work on me as i carry my weight on my tummy and hips so i would have wanted to size up about 2 sizes to make this work for me.

Lexa Dress
Ursula the other shop assisant there on the day was wearing this dress and she looked lovely in it. I liked how the stripes got thicker and thinner throughout and the colour gradient. The bust detail was also lovely. One to keep an eye on.

Oriental dream dress
I tried this in a 22 an the fit was really good, it might have been a bit long on me. I loved that the bow was different colours on each side. This was one of my mum's favourite.

Napa Dress
Sadly this dress just wasn't for me, i think i was too short for the hanky hem to really work, so maybe one to try for the taller girls?

Starburst Dress
Another pretty maxi, the length was really good on me but the bust just didn't sit right for me.

French party tunic
While this is one of the more simple items in the store i really liked it. I had to size up to get the band to sit correctly on my bust. This will be a future purchase.

Carnival Rose dress
Love at first sight! i was twirling around the changing room in this dress. I actually had to size down into a 20 as the 22 was too big, it looks like it doesn't have any stretch but it actually does. The panelling on it is so clever. This dress won my heart.

Paradise Dress
The poppy print was really eye catching and the length was really nice, i also liked the gathering from the bust down the middle, another one i am keepig my eye on.

Floral Fever top
I really liked the cut of this top, i don't think it comes across in this picture but the hem is different lengths, i just didn't like the fabric, again i would need to size up to make it fit better.

The wonderful Erica and I, in matching dresses
 Vangish dress
I tried this in a XL and the fit was great. I really liked the print on this dress and the shape, it was different but not too out there. I am keeping my eye on this for when it goes into the sale.

Dalmation Dress
I fell in love with this dress, the polka dots, the colours at the bottom, i just liked everything about this dress. It was between this and the above dress and i picked this one as the colours are more summer, there will be an outfit post coming soon!

Overall i had a lovely time at the store, the staff were so friendly, they got me a drink and my mum a coffee. The changing rooms are big and roomy and there is air con (hot changin rooms make me want to cry). The thing i noticed about the clothing is the tailoring to the curvy form, there is little details in the pieces that are great and just make them fit the body better. For me the price points are a bit high, but i'm probably not the target market. What do you think of the pieces i tried on?

Simply Be Galaxy dress

Dress* - Simply Be
Necklace - Black heart creatives

I have been a bad blogger, i've had this dress for a bit now but just haven't had a chance to photo it, blame exams, basically two weeks of my life i won't get back and i didn't really have time to do anything. Anyway, onto the beauty of a dress. I got the 22 and i actually think i could get the 20 as it is a little big on me, i would like the waist to sit a bit higher, but nothing a belt can't sort. The dress does look it needs an iron, and i don't have one so, oh well. It is quite a heavy fabric and had an under layer too, i think it would look great with a petite coat. One of my favourite details is the sleeves/neckline, it is a bardot finish, so sits just off centre, it is really lovely and opens up the neck area. I also wish it was a bit lower cut but that is my personal preference for having some cleavage on show.

Lip service

Top - Matalan
Skirt - New Look Inspire

Just a quick one from my today as i'm about to rush off and cover an exam (boo). The weather seems a bit undecided at the moment, warm but with rain and showers. The exam halls are always extra toasty so i use that as a reason to wear more summery clothes. Pencil skirts are not really my style but i am trying harder to wear them and let the VBO run free.
