Christmas day was always for dressing up in my house. My mum always had a new outfit for Christmas, and no one was ever allowed to come to the table in shorts and a t-shirt (as is very customary in South Africa where I grew up). Christmas day was for pretty frocks and sparkly jewelery, and still is.
Now that I live in the UK I love being able to indulge in wintry fabrics over the festive period, and what's more wintry than a bit of midnight blue velvet. Rather than shouting luxury, this dress demurely whispers about it. From Simply Be, this dress is a classic but sexy style that would work for loads of occasions. This rich sumptuous fabric is tactile and indulgent - perfect for a festival of excess such as Christmas. And the wiggle style, complete with twist to the front, hugs every curve and accentuates the waist.
This dress is a step away from my usual full skirted number, and last Christmas you wouldn't have even convinced me to try it on. But this year has seen a lot of changes. I've tried new things and found my confidence soar thanks to blogging and filling my life with other gorgeous body positive women.
Sadly I won't be wearing this dress on Christmas day as I usually spend a lot of time in the kitchen and so wearing velvet would mean I'd be even more of a hot sweaty mess. But I did wear it to my work Christmas party and I felt pretty fabulous, got loads of compliments and a lot of stroking (told you velvet was tactile!
So that's my festive frock pick. You can read a full review of this beauty over on my blog. http://www. curvesandcurl.co.uk/2015/12/ she-wore-blue-velvet-blue- velvet-twist.html
